About Timeshares

My husband thought it would be great to get a timeshare. I was very nervous about accepting. Well we now have it, and on the verge of a separation. its been a pain trying to get rid of it. I have researched donation centers, and they have said no. Because of the property being Massunutten. Every place that I have looked, they want money upfront, not to mention I would still be paying a monthly fee while they try to sell it. I’m in a financial straint. Its rough. Not to mention my sons child care has increased., and going for my masters to make more money.
The Timeshare is in my husbands name and I co-signed. How much would this affect my credit, if I stopped paying. Or does anyone know of a non-scamming company that would like to sell it. I’m to the point to whereas I dont care if I get even $500 back from profit of selling it. This to me is a hard lesson learn…

My mom has a timeshare with Interval International and is going to give me her timeshare week and book it where ever I want. My question is though, has anyone booked their honeymoon through an Interval International resort? Its limited to the resorts you can pick that’s why I am only asking people who have a timeshare through Interval. Thanks!!!!!

My timeshare expires in 20 more years. It reverts back to the developer. So then what typically happens to the resort? The resell it, demolish it and rebuild somthing else, sell it back to me or what?

The grace period is up. We cannot rent out the Timeshare. Usage is much more limited than we were told, and were given extremely bad customer service at a less than desirable new member orientation, which was really an upgrade session thinly disguised as a welcome to the community. Without going into detail, do not buy a timeshare through Silverleaf Resorts. A 30 minute tour after signing up turned into a 5 / hour hard sell to get us to shell out an additional $12,000 to upgrade to a useful color week that allowed us to actually use what we purchased for overnight stays. My fault for falling for it, but I feel it would be stupid to continue paying for something that we cannot use. I know my credit will be hurt, but we already have a house, two cars, and more credit cards than we can use. I know how to play the credit game if I need to make a big purchase, but I am concerned about whether or not it will show as a home foreclosure, or a default on an installment loan.
